Hello,
I am looking for an honest assessment of my chances at the following programs: Wharton, Booth, Columbia, Sloan, Kellogg, Stern
I will be applying during the 1st or 2nd round (and as early as possible in Colubmia's rolling process). I have already started applications, but could use some help in narrowing my list of 6 down to 3 or 4. Thanks in advance for your insight.
27 year old white male
740 GMAT (48Q, 44V, 6.0)
3.8 GPA from large state school
Work Experience: 5 years in Corporate Finance (Strategy, Treasury, etc.) at a large firm. Several promotions and expect very strong letters of recommendation. Currently working in Corporate Development / M&A group which connects well with my goals.
Leadersip: Experience managing analysts & interns, completed 3 year leadership development program at my firm, captain of sports teams
Short & Long Term goals: Investment banking in the near term and private equity long term
Extracurrcular: Volunteer at career development organization mentoring low income / unemployed individuals; volunteer youth sports coach
Other: CFA
Additional Question: My current position is a 1 year assignment that I just began in July. My company has a program for associates to rotate through the group for a year to gain M&A experience. Given that my current supervisor has only known me for a month, I plan to have my previous 2 supervisors write my letters of recommendation. I will make my situation clear in my essays and also plan to address is it in the optional essays. Does this make sense, or will an application without a recommendation from my current supervisor raise a major red flag?
