Hi Sir,
I would like to have a quick check of my profile and see whether my applications to the MBAs such as Duke University, Tuck, Michigan, MIT could be successfull or not.
28 years old, French-Tunisian, male working in UK.
I am currently preparing my GMAT aiming at 710-720
I) Education:
- Engineering School UTBM: Mechanical Engineering (France) GPA: 3.0 or 3.1. Top 10% (French Engineering school are very strict on marks).
- Master: Cranfield University (UK). GPA: 3.5.
- Extra Activity: Study Energy Major in German University (Bochum) GPA: 3.6
- Speak 4 languages and basics of Spanish
II) Work Experience:
- Currently 5 years work experience:
Approx. 1 ½ years in Product Development as an Aerospace Engineer for the leader of the Aerospace equipment supplier in London (England).
3 ½ years in Operation and Maintenance Offshore for a leading Oil and Gas services company in Aberdeen (Scotland).
III) Extracurricular:
- Former President of the School of Engineering and Aerospace in Cranfield University
- Active alumni member of Cranfield and UTBM by helping students getting work experience abroad).
- Co-founded a charity ‘City ‘Up’ to create events for kids in hospitals.
- Helping to develop an entrepreneurial project in Tunis in the luxury clothing industry.
- Organized a football team to play a tournament between Oil and Gas companies.
(Extra-curricular is very difficult for me as I am often in the oil city of Aberdeen or on assignment offshore)
MBA Major: Strategy and Finance

Any feedback guys would be more than welcome. Indeed I am trying get an idea about what improvements do I need to bring to my profile for my application to the MBA, and if my profile could interest one of these schools.

Wow--I can honestly say I see very little room for improvement in your profile. If your GMAT comes through (and there is no reason to think it won't considering your academic background), I would say you'd have a legitimate shot at any b-school. Since you are targeting finance you might also look at Wharton or Chicago, by the way.
I think what makes your profile so attractive is the under-represented diversity (French), the five years of progressively responsible work experience, and the stellar academic and leadership qualities you demonstrate in your work and EC activities. B-schools love engineers, and it's more rare to have engineers who get involved outside the classroom and outside work. You have a really strong case for admission if packaged appropriately. If you decide you could use some specific guidance, let us know. We have specialists who graduated from all the top schools to advise clients.
