Would very much appreciate if you could take some time out to evaluate my profile.
1) Big 4 ACA (UK equivalent of the CPA) qualified, 3.5 years experience in financial services audit. Will have 1 year experience in M&A advisory at a slightly lower ranked accounting firm (think BDO, Grant Thornton, RSM, etc) by the time I apply and 2 years upon the beginning of the program
2) GMAT 700+ (aim)
3) UK college (top 100 in world rankings) - bachelors 3.0 GPA (extenuating circumstances - knee operation) , masters 3.6 GPA
4) Started small business (Director) - can't say too much more on this as it would be personally revealing, fluent in German (initially self taught), conversational in Spanish
5) ACA (UK equivalent of the CPA)
6) Long term goals are Investment Banking or Small-mid cap Private Equity
7) Black male, mid 20s
I am only really interested in Top 10 (Top 15/20 at a stretch). Do I have a realistic chance?

Thanks for sharing your information with us. Your work experience seems to be pretty decent. What is your leadership capacity like? Do you manage people? Details around key accomplishments and direct impact to a firm's success help candidates stand out. Your academic profile seems to be in progress - best of luck on your GMAT. Top ten schools will look for a 700-720 from a candidate such as yourself. Note that your UG GPA is low, but you made up for it in your Masters program.
While your startup could be a gold star on your resume, without details, I don't know whether I should be impressed or not. Starting a company can be done by anyone. Building a reliable, growth oriented business is where you earn your stripes
You have ambitious goals, but it's certainly doable! Top 10 programs will be a stretch but I think you can afford to apply to at least one in R1. You should plan to apply to 3-4 other schools in the 15-20 range as well. Once we get more aspects of your profile ironed out (e.g. GMAT, etc) we can dive deeper into school selection and start developing a story. In the meantime, feel free to get back to us with the answers to the above questions. Also, check out our free resources to get you started for your preparation. Best of luck!
