Hi,
I recently took GMAT (710; Q50, V36, IR 4, waiting on my AWA).
My profile is as follows:
Nationality: Indian
Gender: Female, 28Y
Undergrad: Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering
CGPA: 3.3
Extra curricular: Had contributions to the college mech association, participated in techfests and cultural fests but not overall strong extra curriculars.
Work Experience: 6 years in Subsea Oil and Gas with 3 yrs overseas experience in Houston(US) and Norway.
Goal: Leadership and General Management in Energy sector preferably Green Energy
Bschool interests: Stanford, Columbia, Berkeley, Ross
I worked as both Product Engineer and Project Engineer in Oil and Gas field, particularly subsea systems after graduation with 6 years of experience in subsea systems.
My work scope included the full product cycle at various product stages from conceptualising mechanical design, Design Documentation, Design validation with calculations to Assembly and Testing of various subsea components like mechanical pipeline, connectors and structures.
I have a couple of questions to ask you.
• Do I need to retake my GMAT?
• Where does my profile need strengthening and will I have a chance to target the above B-Schools?
Please let me know your suggestions.

Thanks for the profile overview! Where did you study for undergraduate? If it is in India, please provide the raw score as well. Your career path is focused, so that will help you during the process. That said, you do come from a competitive set and your stats are below those for most of the schools you mentioned.
Answering your specific questions:
- Yes, you should retake the GMAT for that list of schools. A 30 point jump would make a difference.
- ECs need some work. It sounds like you haven't done a whole lot since school, which is not ideal. This is something I would want to explore further with you.
- From what I see here, Stanford is not likely. Columbia and Berkeley could go either way, but a higher GMAT would certainly help. Ross is more realistic.
I suggest expanding your school list a bit based on the current stats, especially considering your oil and gas goals. Have you looked at McCombs? From a regional and industry focus standpoint, that would be a nice fit for you.

Thanks for sharing your profile. I think you will have a tough time at most of the schools on your list. Ross seems like the only school where you have a shot to be truly competitive. Your GMAT/GPA combo is solid but given your applicant pool and the class of schools you are targeting you fall below the averages across the board so you will need to retake the GMAT and aim to fall above the average scores so that is looking at about 30pts for you.
