You aren’t off on anything particular. The reason why I use the word ‘off’ is that once you’re around the average test score, average work-ex etc., what matters a lot at the top schools is the quality of your professional experience.

People from IT background regularly get into ISB, and they’re generally the ones who’ve more-than-normal career progression, impact at the workplace or outside, leadership experiences, and problem-solving instances to highlight in their application. (There is reason why professional experience occupies the most real estate in the resume.) Once you’ve basic things sorted out (test score around the average etc.), those things will help you cross the line. So, dig out these experiences and instances, articulate reasons for any assertions, and show fit to make it to your target school.
