Undergrad: Electrical Engineering (Leading non IIT College)
GPA: 2.5 (Ouch)
Work Ex:
2.5 years in Management Consulting in Big Four. Handling 500 million USD government projects. (Second Job)
3 years in Core Design Engineering Consulting. Handled domestic and international clients. (First Job)
Extracurricular
Created a public utility mobile app. Later got acquired by government. now working with them and google on strategy.
Represented school and college in football tournaments
Short term goals: Consulting
Long term : Entrepreneurship
Preferred Schools :
Insead, Tuck, Darden, Duke, Cornell, Tepper

Thanks for sharing your profile with us! A couple of thoughts based on the information you provided…your mobile utility app jumps out right away – so cool! That experience will definitely serve as a differentiator in your applications so I suggest maximizing that however you can. Management consulting is a solid background, particularly coming from India where a lot of applicants have strict engineering / IT backgrounds. I would expect you to have some great leadership experience in that role. Will you be sponsored by your employer? Or do you plan to join a different consulting firm post-MBA? It will be important to clarify that, and why, in your applications either way.
Now to your stats…I’m glad to see you plan to retake the GMAT. In light of your GPA, it will help your case to get that score up, especially your quant (in light of your peer group). Now your GPA, what really happened there? Is there a story? That’s definitely something you’ll want to address in an optional essay. In our experience, GPA is one of the easier factors to mitigate, but you’ll want to have a strong plan in place to convince the adcom to look past it. With that said, in terms of school selection, you’ll want to hedge your bets. Considering other programs the likes of Tepper would be a good idea, even if you also plan to apply to some reach schools.
