Profile evaluation request (2nd MBA, one year MBA, US schools)

Here's presenting yet another curious case of a voracious guy, who wants to step back, re-learn what he is doing and move to the next level of leadership role. Why walk when I can run and sprint.

Nationality: Indian
Work Ex (7 yrs)

Post-MBA experience: (4 yrs) (Got some good stats and metrics to boost of)
- I am currently working as a Senior Product Manager in Series-B funded mobile first start-up solving a real world problem. Working directly with the CEO.
- Previously been a part of a $1.5 billion valuation start-up team as PM, reports to COO.
During MBA:
- Selected for International immersion. (1 month). Worked on $30m project.
Pre-MBA: (3yrs)
- As Software engineer -> Business Analyst worked for an IT major for world #1 Forex trading platform (client). Worked across 4 multi-national teams situated in New York, London, Singapore and Sydney.

IIM (Top-5 in India) - 2.98/4
NIT (Comp Sc) (Top Institute in India) - 7.48/10
12th (No-1 college in State) - 77.4%
10th - 73.5%

Aptitude (Competitive exams, Scholarships)
- (National) Secured 99% percentile in CAT 2010. Top 1% out of 230,000 candidates
- (State) Awarded merit scholarship by State Government for academic excellence in IIM, 2012-13
- (Regional) Awarded Regional Merit Scholarship by Directorate of Technical Education for Bachelor in Engineering/Technology for academic excellence, 2004-08

- Certified Bloomberg Professional by completing Bloomberg Boot-camp Training Program

- Being the first batch of our institute, I was instrumental in setting up our IIM culture along with Director.
- Founded & presided over the working of Corporate Relations Cell and Entrepreneurship Cell.
- Conceptualized our grad school's flagship event, one of the biggest summit in West India.
- Worked as Rural immersion candidate in mulitple NGOs to undertake projects for uplifting socio-economic condition. Education being my forte.
- Prefect of my under-graduate college (NIT) , 2007-08
- Sports Secretary (NIT)
- Captain, Volleyball NIT Team.
- Captain, IIM Cricket team.
- Marathon runner.
- I played TT, Badminton and Football too in my college team

GRE - 318 (QA-167,VA-151). Planning to give again, let me see if I can improve it.

Recommendation options:
- IIM Director
- Chairperson, Faculty Member
- Director of Product

Why one more MBA:

- I see every organization will be become a Technology company in the next 5 years, be it healthcare, education, finance or automotive given the way technology is evolving now-a-days. I am looking to break into this thriving eco-system (US/Silicon valley) and be ready for next level of leadership role. I believe an Tech focused MBA from a premium institute will help me to stand up to this.
- I was the first batch of a new IIM. It's now in it's 5th year. I learnt a lot during those 2 yrs, about setting up something new. Now I want to know, how to scale and grow. I want to experience a fully immersive program.
- As I said, I want to run. I want to be successful. Super successful.
- I have great story to tell. I think people will like it.

Target programs:

I am looking for one-year MBA or specialized masters course. US only.
Dream: MIT SDM, Cornell Tech MBA
I need some counselling on the selecting the right school for me.

Hi there,

Thanks for sharing your background with us. Have you applied to your target MBA programs yet? You have achieved a lot so far, and I agree, there is a lot to like about your profile. You mentioned retaking the GRE - how'd it go? You have ambitious goals (which we love!), but it's important to evaluate them and ensure we are grounded in our thinking. Your short term goal is rather generic - you want to be in tech (which you define as just about anything)...what is it that you want to do post MBA? This will help hone in your target school as well as guide your story. Let us know if you'd like to chat about how we can help. Best of luck!
