Hello
mayanksgmat,
I hope you are doing good. Your profile appears quite strong and competitive for the London Business School (LBS) and the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford. Admissions decisions for top MBA programs are based on a holistic evaluation of your application, and various factors are considered, including your academic background, GMAT score, work experience, leadership potential, and career goals.
Speaking about your academics, your 10th and 12th grades are strong, and your undergraduate degree in BSc Physics(Hons.) from Delhi University is respectable. While a GMAT score of 720 is competitive for LBS, although it's always good to be in the upper percentiles, which you are, especially in the quantitative section.
Coming to your work experience, you have a solid 10 years of work experience, which is within the range of typical MBA applicants. Your experience as a Civil Servant in the Ministry of Finance and your earlier experience in the banking sector demonstrate a strong background in finance and policy work. You mentioned no international experience, which is not uncommon but can be a consideration for MBA programs with a global perspective. However, your NGO work might mitigate this to some extent
Your role as a co-founder of an NGO and certified career counselor showcases your commitment to social impact and community involvement. Admissions committees value such experiences. Your short-term and long-term career goals align with the skills and knowledge gained during your work experience. Transitioning into corporate strategy, relationship management, or product management in IT or finance is a logical step, given your background.
In both cases, ensure your application essays, letters of recommendation, and interviews effectively communicate your unique experiences, skills, and motivations. Your profile seems competitive, but remember that admission to top MBA programs is highly competitive, and many factors beyond your control can influence the final decision. However, with a well-crafted application and a compelling story that ties your past experiences to your future goals, you have a strong chance of being admitted to both LBS and Saïd.
Good luck!
