Professional Experience:
After Completion of my UG degree, I joined the Aditya Birla Group (ABG)-Hindalco through their flagship programme ABGLP. For the past five years, I have held multiple roles including technical services, operations management and currently as Manager in the Centre of Excellence (COE) Process. In my four and a half years of experience I have achieved one promotion.

* Currently leading a team of six members, responsible for MIS, Process Control, WIP and raw material inventories.
* Centrally coordinating with various stakeholders including Finance, logistics and Procurement teams to control cash, cost of production and P&B volume.

* Worked on multiple projects resulting in a reduction in raw material consumption which increased EBITDA by Rs 35 Crores annually.
* Published three research papers, including one presented at an international forum.
* Leading digitalisation initiatives and convening the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) of Alumina Refinery.
* Collaborated with business leaders of ABG-Hindalco including Assistant Vice President (AVP), Joint Presidents and Business Heads on strategic projects to address business challenges such as Business Continuity Management, Savings Programs and Process Standardisation.

Thanks for sharing your profile, rah10614. Try to aim for a GMAT FE score of 675+. (Always best to have 20 or 30+ points than the school's average scores)
Schools that can be good fits:
ISB- Classic “sweet-spot” profile, Indian engineer, ~5 years in ops/manufacturing + leadership + quantified impact. You have promotion, people management, and a big ₹ impact, which can be a good ISB fit.
IIM-A PGPX- Heavy tilt towards operations, consulting, leadership. Your ABG–Hindalco + savings, ERM, and digitalisation work fits well with PGPX’s positioning as a senior, leadership-heavy program.
Ross is good for operations & supply chain (Tauber Institute, etc.) and likes impact stories in manufacturing/industry. You can be competitive with a strong GMAT/GRE and clear ops/supply chain vision.
Schools that can be a stretch, but with strong test scores + essays, might be a realistic target:
MIT Sloan- Good for operations, analytics, supply chain. You’ll be competing with very strong quant profiles; your edge will be real-world industrial impact, Six Sigma, and digital ops. Needs an excellent test score + powerful leadership stories.
Wharton- Great for operations/analytics, but very stats-sensitive. Your ₹35 Cr EBITDA project, ERM work and cross-functional leadership will play well if paired with a high GMAT/GRE.
Columbia- Can be less “natural” for ops than Ross/Sloan, but still likes strong quant and industry profiles. Make sure you articulate why New York/Coumbia specifically for operations/supply chain (like global HQ roles, consulting, retail/CPG, etc.)
Strengths you must highlight: You’re already managing a team, leading cross-functional initiatives, and presenting to senior leadership. Quantify everything, ₹35 Cr EBITDA, % cost reduction, inventory improvements, downtime reductions, etc. Operations + Risk + Digitalisation: That trio is attractive for modern ops/supply chain programs and recruiters. Research papers + international presentation show intellectual curiosity and communication.
Concerns:
1) No GMAT/GRE scores. Do you have a mock score?
2) Crowded Indian engineer pool: Differentiate with heavy metals/industrial ops + ERM + digital vs generic IT. Your “₹35 Cr EBITDA improvement” and risk/digitalisation work will help here.
3) International exposure: If you have any cross-country projects or global suppliers/customers, highlight that. If not, emphasize scale, complexity, and stakeholder diversity.
Things you can do: Curate 3–4 “flagship” stories, EBITDA improvement project, ERM/business continuity work, digitalisation initiative, people-leadership example (coaching, conflict, change mgmt), get strong LORs, from senior leaders who’ve seen you in high-stakes, cross-functional work. Align your goals, be specific: like “post-MBA operations/supply chain consultant” or “global operations role in metals/energy/industrial/EV ecosystem.”
Questions for you to reflect upon:
1) Do you see yourself post-MBA in consulting (operations) or industry (plant/corporate ops/supply chain) roles?
2) Any international exposure (projects, vendors, clients)?
3) Are you open to Europe/Asia schools or strictly India + US?
