Hi there,
Congrats on getting started early! Here are a few things to think about based on the info you provided:
- Indian engineers comprise a very large portion of applicants every year. So, you are in many ways going to be competing against that group, who tends to have very high GMAT scores. If you want to apply to the top 10 programs, I would shoot for north of 720 for sure (this is still somewhat low for Indian candidates but I'm assuming you have a good story with regards to your career, which will be a differentiator for you as well as your extracurriculars).
- Similarly, successful Indian applicants tend to have very high undergrad performance as well. So, you'll want to take steps to mitigate your GPA (eg. additional coursework, pointing to demonstrative aspects of your career, etc). If your rank within your class is better, be sure to note that to the adcom too.
- It's ok to want to change careers with an MBA but given how much work experience you'll have, you really need to have a solid story on how and why you plan to make this change. Don't be vague here - demonstrate to the adcom that you've put a lot of thought into this next step in your career and that you know what aspects of your past you can leverage as well as what you need to gain from an MBA program.
Hope this helps and best of luck!
Kindly,
Meredith
