Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed reading your profile and think you have a strong background for these schools. I reviewed your profile similar to when I worked in admissions.
First, I would consider adding in the top 10 US schools such as Fuqua, Wharton, HBS, Stanford, Booth, Berkley. At Stanford, look into the Reliance Dhirubhai Fellowship which covers your full two years. Also, Fuqua and Wharton granted generous scholarship amounts the last few years to international students.
From a career standpoint, you have gained strong exposure at McKinsey, not to mention across several prominent industries. I like that (in short time) you also gained solid teamwork, analytical and leadership skills across cross-functional and cross-cultural settings. With little over 4 years of work experience and your potential recommendation from a McKinsey partner, you will portray consistency in work ethic and professional relationships to top business school programs. I would not worry too much about extracurricular activities after college. We had several candidates last year who were accepted to the top 5 programs from a PE or consulting background. Top programs know the traveling lifestyle of a consultant and do not hold this in a negative light.
Additionally, your academic background is in the competitive range for these schools and displays your ability to handle the rigorous curriculum. Believe it or not, but a 660 GMAT score is strong enough to get you into these top programs I mentioned above. We witnessed it the last few years. A 700 is a competitive score for HBS based on my experience last year. I would try to retake the GMAT and score higher. It does not guarantee admission BUT will make you competitive as compared to other candidates who come from a similar cultural, personal, academic and professional background as you.
While I understand your concern for financing the MBA, try to keep this as independent as possible to the choice of schools you apply to. Try to answer the following: If you were accepted at HBS, Wharton, or Booth without any scholarship…would you attend? Or if you were accepted at Kelley without any scholarship, would you still want to attend?
Last year, we successfully placed candidates at the schools above, Indian institutions (IIM and ISB), and Europen schools (SDA Bocconi, HEC Paris). Some of these admits are now MAC Fellows given their positive experience. They are available to directly share their experience with you.
Let us know if you have further questions or would like to have a free evaluation by one of our top-tier Admissions Consultants at any point.
Yours truly,
