Hi there -

Sounds like you want to stay in your current industry, so the PT / EMBA programs are a great option for you. Here are a few thoughts as you start this process:
- Am I reading correctly that you have 5.5 years of experience? You're really on the cusp of the FT / PT cut-off (and on the lower experience side of most traditional EMBA programs). As such, it's really important to make it clear why the PT program is the right one for you. PT programs are sometimes sensitive to the fact that you may be applying to FT and PT and hedging your bets (but they will assume you favor the FT since those tend to be more popular). That's not you, so you want to make that crystal clear. We have a former PTMBA admissions director on our staff who frequently cites this as one of the biggest mistakes that candidates make - not clarifying their clear preferences for the PT programs.
- Your GPA is low, but the good news is that GPA is typically the easiest thing to mitigate. Take an online course or two and get an "A". You have plenty of time. This will demonstrate that you can handle the coursework. Be sure to directly point out that you did this in the optional essay section of the application.
- Otherwise, it looks like you have strong work experience, career progression and outside interests (volunteering etc). Be sure to highlight your personality (not just your accomplishments) through your essays; and also be sure to inspire the reader by describing your goals in a bit more high level context (Eg. why do you want to be an executive in aerospace? What would your goals be? What are you passionate about as it relates to the aerospace industry?) Don't forget the importance of explaining the "why" behind everything.

All that said, I think you're in the running for UCLA's PT program, which is fabulous! Feel free to email me if you want to chat further as you get started - we offer a free 30 minute consult and can talk about basically whatever you want.

Best of luck to you!
