Hi gogrannygo,
Thanks for your sharing. I really enjoyed reviewing your profile and think you have a strong background for Booth, Columbia, Yale, Tuck and some other top-tier programs. Additionally, your academic background is in the competitive range for these schools and displays your ability to handle the rigorous curriculum. A 750 is a competitive score for HBS, Stanford, Columbia, Booth and other top-tiers based on our experience last year.
Given your non-traditional background, you will need to really emphasize how each of these programs will meet your short term and long term goals. Also, be crystal clear on what those future goals will be. As you approach your applications, there are a few questions you will want to reflect upon, as top business schools will have similar questions about your candidacy:
1. What really entices you to transition from being a legal professional to a business professional?
2. Do you really need an MBA versus another traditional MBA candidate (without any prior graduate education) who is looking to get into the same program?
3. How will you apply the MBA after b-school, given that you are successful in your career currently?
Lastly, I did not perceive your background to have many weaknesses – in fact, quite the opposite. Your legal or non-traditional background shows a "uniqueness" over your competition if communicated effectively across your applications. I remember that last year, one of the consultants who is currently at MAC, helped two candidates with their applications and both held work experience in the legal area. One was accepted to MIT and Wharton; the other was accepted to Wharton. One of them is now a MAC Fellow.
I hope this helps you. If you would like to further speak directly with our consultants who are former admissions committee members or our recent admits at any point, please visit
