Hi there,
You’re planning ahead, which I think is great! With 2 years of work experience, you’re doing the right thing by waiting another year (or even two) before you apply to a top MBA program. As you know, the average years of work experience at the top US programs is 4-5 years.
Although your GMAT is within range for the schools you’re targeting, you are part of a highly competitive pool of applicants so if you could improve your score, quant in particular, that would certainly help your chances.
ECs look good! It will be great to show 1-2 years of involvement in your organizations in your applications to show commitment. With that’s said, I’m curious why you chose those organizations specifically. Do you have a personal connection to the causes?
Beyond stats and ECs, your story, what you want to do after business school, and why you’re pursuing an MBA are just as important in gaining admission to an MBA program. Those elements will also factor into what schools you’ll ultimately want to apply to. So in terms of what you can do to improve your profile, in addition to getting promoted at work and taking on additional leadership responsibilities, is to start thinking about what you want to do professionally in the long-run and why, and how that ties back to your prior experience and interests. Presenting a cohesive, logical story is a critical piece of a successful application. And the good news is that it’s never too early to start thinking about and researching that!
I hope I’ve given you a few things to think about as you contemplate your MBA applications! Best of luck to you!
