Hello,
I wish to pursue MBA after M.Tech. Please review my profile:

Education: 2 years master’s degree in off-road vehicle design and 4 years Bachelor's degree in
Post graduate college: Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (Among top 3 in India and no.1 for off-road vehicle design course)
Undergraduate College: Gobind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (Among top 3 in Agricultural Universities in India)
Under graduation stream: Agricultural Engineering
Marks: Always among top 5 in class in both the degrees
Summer Internship: 2 months summer internship in CFMTTI, Budni (No. 1 tractor testing center in India)
Corporate Internship: 1 year internship in Mahindra & Mahindra Limited responsible for designing and manufacturing a brand new implement
Full time work experience: Will complete 3 years by the fall intake of 2021. I got many appreciation for my work and won competition within the organization in which I competed with people more than 5+ years of experience.
Current Employer: John Deere India Private Limited
Extra Curricular: Have involved in many national, states and college level activities
Leadership experience: I have led many initiatives in school, college and company level.
Marks in 10th: 90 %
Marks in 12th: 82.8%
Extra information: Have published 6 research paper in a renowned journal having impact factor more than 5.
Additional responsibility: Also leading an SAEINDIA initiative as a communication and registration lead for National level competition. Active member of sWE too and participated in the conference as a presenter.
Additional Information: Being a part during dramatics club in both the graduate and undergraduate universities, performed and directed many street plays. Acted in one of the webisode of informative series about implement in John Deere.
NGO: Had associated with NGO's during graduate and postgraduate. Now also, I am the active part in organizing and volunteering CSR activities happening in the company.
International Experience: I was about to travel for work related purpose but due to COVID 19, couldn't able to. But I am consistently working with my USA and Germany counterparts on a daily basis and have very good professional relationship with them.
Promotion: 1 promotion within one year of joining

I have not taken GMAT yet but could get marks in between 700-720. I know English, Hindi but eager to learn french after giving my GMAT in July. Currently I have 2 years work experience but will complete 3 years before joining the program in September 2021.

Post MBA goals:
Project Management/ Consulting/ Finance

I am preferring one year MBA programs in Europe but open to 2 years as well. Other than Europe, I want to target Canada, Singapore and other Asian top MBA colleges.

Would you help me with the colleges name where my chances are pretty high with just 2 years of experience at the time of submitting application?

Hi Tanisha,

You have a competitive profile for an MBA. The only downside I see is you're on the lower side of the average work-ex. Your work ex will be counted till the time you matriculate (i.e. start your MBA) so consider it 3 years. Might I also suggest to target a higher GMAT score as is expected from IIT grads, especially if you want to target top European schools such as INSEAD or LBS.

As for schools, I'd recommend narrowing down to one country or region. Having so many countries will either deter you to apply to many schools or increase the cost and time involved. Further, you should also look into each country's post-graduate work visa policies/ immigration policies. The UK is offering 2 years Post Graduate Work Permit but with Brexit+Covid19 not sure of your prospects there. Germany can be a good option as you have automobile industry experience which can come in handy. I can help you shortlist schools but will have to discuss your goals and above things in depth. I think you have a good profile, however, you will be competing with other IITian's, as the school will be pooling you with other candidates like you, who will most probably look the same as you on paper - Ambitious, Hardworking, Good at academics and with some achievements. You definitely have the credibility, however, the key would be to differentiate yourself with other such candidates.

Hi - would really appreciate an analysis of my profile as well. Below is my profile - I am keen to look at marketing and/or strategy studies oriented MBA programmes. Need help with shortlisting colleges - my preference is towards 1 - year programmes like the one at ISB Hyderabad, but open to other programmes too. Thanks!

I am 26 years old female candidate and come from a communication and marketing background with work ex of 4 years. Graduated from University of Delhi with BA Hons in Journalism, where I studied several subjects like political science, economics, international relations, print, radio and TV journalism, and marketing and advertising, besides others.

From there on, got interested in marketing and studied at the Indian Institute of Mass Comm for a PG Diploma in Advertising and PR.

I have 4+ years of work experience, including a currently ongoing 2+ year stint at a leading international airline where I am responsible for consumer marketing portfolio.

Here are my scores:
10th Std - 85.4%
12th Std (Science) - 77%
Graduation - 75.25%
PG Diploma - 72.05%
GMAT (expected, yet to take the exam) - 690-710

I was awarded the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) Award in 2016; and was nominated by my firm for a 30 Under 30 Industry Award. I have worked with a Delhi based NGO working in the space of emotional education of children for about 1-1.5 years. I also have a lot of internships at college level with organizations like Indian Express and BBDO (ad agency). During my graduation and the PG Diploma, I have worked on several live projects like documentary film-making, authoring original dissertations and seminar papers, radio programmes, ad film-making, and an award-winning capstone project for a leading Indian Home Care brand.

Hi KaumudiT, You have a good overall profile. It will definitely stand out from the traditional Engineering profile. Your congruence in your education and work will go a long way. Getting industry awards will also elevate your profile. Overall, I can say a well-balanced profile. However, if you are targeting ISB, there is no saying if your profile will be enough. While your profile + a 700+ score in GMAT will put you on the map, one cannot be sure of ISB. Simply because everyone applies to ISB even if they're planning to go to USA. There are other schools in India such as MICA, Ahmedabad that are excellent in the field of marketing. Are you looking for schools abroad? If yes, that opens a lot of options.
