I am planning to apply for R2. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Profile -
GMAT Score - 655(91st percentile): Q83(81st percentile) V81(67th percentile), DI 83(96th percentile)
Work Experience - 3.5 years
Nationality - Indian (Woman)
Age - 26
Work Experience - Currently working as a Quality and Business Assurance engineer in a highly reputed multinational AI company. I have led the quality assurance efforts for multiple proprietary products of my company.
Education - B. Tech in CS from SRMIST, Chennai (9.43 GPA, performance based scholarship winner)(2017-2021)
Post MBA Goal - Inclined towards a career in product management but remain open to exploring other opportunities before making a final decision
Target college- Top 20 Business schools in US. Haven’t researched about specific schools yet.
Queries -
1. I am not completely happy with my score and I think I can improve it a bit. I feel like retaking the exam, but I have to prepare for TOEFL and work on my applications. I want to know if my score is enough or if I should retake.
2. Need opinion on my target schools. Can you please suggest schools that I can aim for based on my profile
3. Suggestions for MBA consultants. I would require help in profile building and figuring out the entire process

Speaking about your profile, your current GMAT score is competitive, but retaking it and improving your Quant and Verbal scores could boost your application. You already have a strong academic background, with a good GPA and recognition through a performance-based scholarship.
You must highlight the leadership and the impact you brought in your organization. Do you have any Extracurricular activities or something you do apart from your work? AdComs will also be interested in knowing you apart from your work, so make sure you also talk about that. Lastly, try to show a connection between your current industry and the post-MBA industry.

Hey! I went through the same challenges you did last year. I was super new to the process and I made several mistakes, and I am reapplying again this year.
- Firstly, your profile only mentions professional experience, academics, and exam scores. There's a lot more that matters to adcoms including your motivations, co-curriculars, culture fit with their school, etc. I have a friend with a 750 GMAT who got rejected last year because of aiming wrong or maybe mainly because they slacked on the essays/lors side . That being said, if I were you I would also consider retaking the exam just to increase my odds given the competition from other Indian engineers.
- My background is slightly different, but I also am targeting product management. My consultant gave me the following options based on my background and scores- UCLA, USC Marshall, Mccombs, UNC might be the most relevant for you.
- In terms of consultants , I strongly advice you to please go with individual consultants. I worked with a bigger firm last year... they have several candidates and you don't always get the personal attention that you seek. I took up an individual consultant this year and it's made a huge difference to the quality of my application and my essays. He has a strong PM background and was able to help me translate my experience to make it seem like I am a great fit PM. Plus, he only works with limited candidates each round, so I never feel like he clocks me or anything.
Anyway, I've done a lot of consultant shopping over the past couple of years... happy to share a couple of options that I liked or make an intro to the one that I went with
