Not sure what you want me to say.
If you're going to apply, then just do the best you can on the application, and hope it's good enough for you to get in. That's all that's within your control.
As for your gap in experience and law school, just tell the truth. Resist the temptation to spin, because if you do, all the adcom will see is the spin, and that sort of BS will then ruin the credibility of the rest of your application (i.e. if you're "spinning" your holes or concerns, whose to say you'll be doing the same thing with your achievements?) - as a result, everything else gets discounted. Again, it is what it is. If you screwed up, own up to it, but don't get overly defensive and apologetic to the point where it becomes the *main* thing the adcom remembers because "explaining my weaknesses/holes" becomes a recurring theme in your application.
