Hi I'm hoping someone can fill me on what level of MBA program that my profile is best suited for. I hope to apply to top 20 or top 30 US Full-Time MBA programs, particularly programs that offer a joint MBA and MPP program. I would also like to consider UK based schools. Targeted schools are listed at the bottome
Undergraduate: 3.3 GPA from a non-flagship public university with a degree in Finance and Banking. One summer semester of study abroad in Germany. I also worked throughout college in on-campus university jobs and at private country clubs. I was involved in an honors service fraternity while in school as well. Graduated in 2008.
Since graduation I have worked for a regional bank located in the southeastern US ranked among the top 10 largest US banks by total asset sizes, and about midway in the overall FORTUNE 500 list when ranked by revenues. I began with the bank through their leadership training program which lasts 9 months and has classes starting in July and January each year. The training program is highly ranked by most training publications. Since then I have worked in different locations in small business and middle market lending, credit underwriting/analysis, and credit administration. I was also involved in working through a relatively larger merger by moving to the territory of the newly acquired bank. Although I have never been a manager, I do have leadership responsibilities as part of my position.
Outside of work I am active in fitness competitions and amateur golf tournaments. I have also led multiple community service projects and have been a member of a civic organization, and a professional association. Internally with the bank I have received additional training certifications for my position.
I have several former managers and peers that will write reference letters on my behalf.
My current GMAT score is 710 (44Q, 42V). If need be I feel like I have the potential to boost this score by about 20 points by improving my quantitative section.
My post graduation goals are to explore management and policy consulting. I would also like the opportunity work globally. Although I have never worked overseas I have traveled in several countries throughout Asia and Europe.
I would like to start a graduate program in the fall of 2014. At that time I will have 5.5 years of work experience.
Any insight into what level US and UK schools I may qualify for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Edited to add: Current targeted US programs are UNC, Michigan, Texas, and Georgetown. UK targeted programs are LBS, Oxford/Judge, Cambridge/Said.
