Hi,
I am an Indian Male, 29 years of age. Married.
Qualifications - Engineer with graduation score of 55 percentage.
GMAT - 660
Overall Work experience is 5.5 years in the Telecommunications domain.
A brief about my experience -
I earlier worked for Telecom equipment manufacturer (european). Our clients included all Major telecom Service providers in India and abroad. Here i have been part of telecom implementation projects throughout the country.
Also have been part of Project planning and Network Solution designing.
I have had quite a bit of exposure to Presales assignments with this firm.
My next job was with an American Software Testing company based in India, my role here also has been majorly into planning and designing.
Throughout my work career I have been involved in extensive travel across the country, my dealings have consistently been with senior officials from various mobile service providers. I have been exclusively responsible for new product demonstrations and presentations.
Have consistently displayed strong technical and analytical skills. And have been awarded by the company on a global platform.
Based on these parameters i wish to put forward my application for a marketing degree.
I quit my job around 4 months back to prepare for my GMAT and other Entrance exams.
During these 4 months i have been involved in community service and have a certificate to support my claim.
How badly can this hurt me ??
Extracurricular - Community service as mentioned above, soccer player (college level)
-- While I do understand Top 10 or 15 is beyond my reach, could I target colleges around the 20-25 rank mark. If you can suggest any specific examples of colleges that I could look at it would give a better idea where to apply.
Thanks a lot
Hello there,
Thanks for dropping by.
So first of all, the most important question is the job. I don't know if you are planning on applying now or next year, but without a job it makes things a lot harder. Because not only do you not have a job now, they will want to know what you are doing over the next months. The fact that you did some community service during this "hole" is great, but you want to make sure that the hole is not too big!
Could you apply to 20-30 schools with your profile? Maybe. It depends a bit on the rest of your profile - your community service, your volunteer work, sports, leadership, achievements, progress at work, extra currics etc. You do though have two big tough challenges: 1. Low GPA 2. No job.
If you can "Fix" that second one, it'll make things a lot easier.
Best,
Jon
