Hi,
Would really appreciate if you could evaluate my profile:
About me:
Since my early undergrad years I have been very excited about the intersection of progress/development, technology and early stage entrepreneurship. This was shaped primarily by my college which is located in the Indian hinterland and the problems I saw around me shaped my thinking. My choices from undergrad onwards have been driven by this intersection. What excited me about early stage entrepreneurship is how one had the flexibility of either playing around with technology or revenue models to create outcomes which are of use to consumers be it individuals or large businesses. I remember vividly my first real internship which was in a company selling water to rural people in western India, where we pioneered a revenue model along the lines of what one sees in software today (SaaS). I was instrumental in kick starting the sales in one hub, which had a 200% m-o-m growth for the 2 months I was there. I got to understand business models, technology ans service delivery models deeply during my 2 years working at a premier impact investment fund where I was part of 3 deals, and managed a portfolio of 3 companies on behalf of the firm. During this time, I also increased the deal pipeline of the fund by 50% as well as introduced them to better investment tracking tools. I was the first Associate to be taken by them right after college. Around this time, I also started a college alumni fund, and ran its operations for 3 years on a pro-bono basis and built the leadership team there. During my time there, we invested in 7 startups. The pipeline of companies which we developed exceeded 200+, effectively creating a new avenue for these startups to raise funding from. One which is more empathetic to their mission. Around this time, in my day job at the impact firm, I felt that while what I was doing was exciting, I could do more at my age and missed the joy and pain of actually building a company ground up. One of the companies that I got funded via the alum fund, was working towards using a novel technology to solve acute supply chain problems. I joined the company as employee no. 10, post which I helped it raise 10M USD in PE funding from a premier fund, headed sales there as well as other functions in recruitment, marketing and ops. I'm interested in an MBA for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I think an MBA will expose me to a variety of learning methods (the case method) that will augment my business acumen and bring in an additional structured thinking. I am more inclined to schools that have active research in areas of technology entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship and inter disciplinary business research and centres of excellence. Secondly, I think an MBA will help me develop an more international network and help me find future partners in crime as I go about exploring opportunities in early stage startups. Third, I think an MBA will also help me find opportunities in fields that I might not be inclined to at the moment, but something I would consider later (say tech M&A or Venture Capital a second time
