Re: Profile evaluation-Which schools to apply!(Indian,female,IT) [#permalink]
High school grades don't matter anymore, it's the college record and beyond that the bschools will be evaluating. The adcoms also know how to assess the different grading systems of the different schools in India. If you went to a more competitive school with a stricter grading standard then your grades will be understood accordingly. Regardless, a 79% isn't that bad and if you were in the top 20% of students then that is fine. This helps. It's not hugely distinctive compared to many others who will be applying but it's definitely not equivalent to a 3.0 on the 4.0 GPA scale.

up4gmat, you're misunderstanding the situation. There's only marginal difference between acceptance rates at ISB/Booth/Kellogg, and Ross/Sloan - in fact, they're nearly in the same category. Asking if you should try for Ross or Sloan instead doesn't show that you've quite done your research enough.

Regardless, we can say that you're qualified for any of these five schools, but we can't say if it will work out or not because we don't have the whole picture. It will be up to you to execute! And if you're serious about getting in to the ISB in particular, a higher GMAT score would help.
