Hi,

Please help me with an evaluation -

I am a 26 year old Indian male

GMAT -
730

Work experience -
1 year in an Manufacturing industry (Energy sector) (manufacturing/operations/sales/service)

4 yrs IT in Banking/Financial Services
Developer > Programmer Analysst > Tech Lead (India/US)
One of the IT Bigwigs in India.

Since April 2007 in IT again (Health Insurance domain)
Currently with a company(Mid size) based in US

Education -
Bach. of Engg. in National Inst. of Technology, Surat, India

Extracurriculars -
Community Service program in US

Hobbies --
Travelling
Camping



why do i want to do an MBA?
1. Make a career change > financial Sector/Banking Services


Please evaluate my profile and advice me on--

1. Does it make sense to take a shot at the IVY league schools?
2. If so, what needs to be improved to strengthen my application

First thing I think you need to do is adjust your school selection. There are a plethora of great programs that are not Ivy league schools. Also, if you want to apply to Ivy league schools is it because they fit your goals or because they are Ivy league schools?

I've seen some people go to Ivy league schools (for undergrad) because they wanted to say they went to an Ivy league school, but they were miserable because the fit was terrible.

HI,

I am sorry for not being explicit on the names of the schools

I will be applying to not more than 5 schools

My first choice is wharton (UPenn)
Second choice is Kellogg
Third choice would be ISB.

Have not decided up on the fourth and fifth.

The reason i would like to go to these school is because

Wharton - is considered to be very good for finance careers which obviously matches my goals

Kellogg - Course curriculum is pretty impressive and i believe that this will help me a lot in my goal

I don't see anything that explicitly should preclude you from applying to those schools. That said I would recommend that you pick less competitive schools for #3 and #4.
