Hi Ajith22,

There is a wide 'range' of acceptable scores when it comes to "Top 50" Schools, so you really have to do some research to narrow down the possible Schools that you're interested in. Once you have your list, you can research the Schools directly. In general, a 650+ score would put you in 'range' of most Business Schools, but there are sometimes specific details that apply (for example, some Programs expect a really high Quant Scaled Score). The application process includes several pieces OTHER than the GMAT score though (including essays, Letters of Recommendation, etc.), so you need a strong OVERALL application AND you need to craft your application to "sell yourself" in as effective a way as possible.

Hi Ajith22,

There are a variety of factors that go into selecting the Schools that you'll apply to. Here are some things to think about:

1) Is there a particular company that you want to work for or industry that you want to work in? Certain degrees are more appropriate than others if you have a specific career goal.
2) What do you want your MBA to do for you?
3) Do you want to go to School full-time or part-time?
4) Are you willing to relocate? Are you comfortable with working through a program that is primarily online?
5) Are you going to be applying for scholarships?
Etc.

It's okay if you don't have answers to any of these questions just yet, but the more specifically you can answer these questions (and others), the more pointed you can be with your research and selection process.

It's not enough to want to go to a "good School" - you have to make sure the School offers a Program that matches your career goals.
