-worked over 50hrs a week during Jr/Sr years
-very active on campus/ held several positions
student government president
-single mother/ very low income upbringing
-first in family to graduate high school/college

Based on the info you gave me, even with your downward GPA, you should have a shot at several top schools. The fact that you were working full-time and were dealing with your mother's condition will certainly weigh in your favor. Moreover, your GMAT score will eliminate most doubts about your ability to handle B-school. You didn't tell me about your work experience, which is important to B-schools. Many schools prefer applicants with 2 years of work experience minimum. As for resources you can check, try the National Black MBA Association and the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management.
