Hi Team,
First of all, thank you so much for helping and providing your valuable insights for so many of us.
I am a 25-year-old Indian male looking for admission to a business school for the class of 2025.
I completed my under graduation(Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science) from University BDT College of Engineering(A constituent college of VTU), Karnataka, India with an average GPA of 7.29/10.
GMAT score- I took my GMAT and scored fairly low. I am preparing for my next attempt and am looking to score 700+.
Work Experience- I have been working as an IT professional(Full Stack Engineer) for Cognizant for the past 3 years.
I have received 2 promotions during my stint and also a "Most Valuable Player" award for my outstanding work ethic and continuously going above and beyond for the project.
I had always been proactive and ready to take on any challenge without anyone expecting me. I have also mentored many colleagues of mine and pushed them to achieve their goals while working on mine at the same time.
I do not have exclusive international exposure as of now, but I do communicate with my US counterparts regularly.
Extracurricular Activities- During my undergraduate degree, I actively participated in and organised many cultural and non-cultural events. I attended a few workshops organised by the Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO). I was also part of a college sports team and have won a couple of tournaments.
During my time with Cognizant, I took up the role of mentor with the help of Freedom Employability Academy, to mentor and guide 30 youths from a rural village in Uttar Pradesh, India, which helped them build a productive and ethical mindset, along with the digital literacy skills.
My post-MBA goals are that I want to move to Consulting. I think I have all the basic skills along with a passion and a belief to excel in that area. Also, I am a good problem solver with always an eye for solutions and out-of-the-box thinking. I am sure with appropriate education from a good business school I will be able to excel in that field.
Target Schools- Booth School of Business, Kellogg School of Management, Tuck School of Business, Said Business School, Warwick Business School, Cambridge Judge Business School, London Business School.
Few Pointers- I am looking to transition to the consulting domain, with a position of a business analyst in the coming months. If I do this transition successfully I hope it will further strengthen my application for the above-mentioned schools.
Also, I am open to any suggestions or any new schools that you might think would have a better chance of getting admission from. My preference is for the good-ranked school. Though geography doesn't matter much for me, I would give preference to US or UK schools first. Moreover, I am looking for a scholarship as well so we have to keep that in mind while selecting for the school.
Kindly let me know
1. If there is anything I can do to further strengthen my application.
2. Since GMAT Classic would be retiring in 2 months and SC is not my strong area, I might attempt GMAT focus. What should be the appropriate score in GMAT focus for the colleges mentioned above or even other good-ranked colleges?
Always open to any suggestions or feedback from your side which will help me in any way.
Looking forward to your response.
Thank you,
Rohan
