MBAPrepCoachI appreciate the feedback.

These are kind of the bare facts, but what do you have in terms of evidence of leadership, teamwork, problem solving and innovation? You might have a ton of this but not able to glean it from what you provided. Do you have any international exposure, diversity factors?
I can provide evidence of leadership, teamwork, problem solving and innovation - both from an organizational standpoint (positions I've held) as well as concrete accomplishments such as product launches, revenue generated.
In regards to diversity/international: I'm originally European but moved to the United States when I was young. I am responsible for global research (US, China + Europe).

the GMAT is OK but the average consists of far more diverse applicants than yourself, so if the average for GSB is 730 for a white male is going to be higher; also, the grades are weak - the masters grades are good and yes engineering, but you are competing against people with pretty stellar acads.
I'm confident I can boost the GMAT so I'll give that another go. I have an unfortunate story as to why my GPA was low for the first two years of UG.

Regarding age: are you open to part-time, a 1-year MBA where your age is more in line the average, Sloan Fellows, or European schools? Your odds are better with these options but if you want a FT MBA, not impossible of course. 33 is not a deal breaker IF your career goal is not ageist with a formal on campus recruitment ie IB, MBB.
I find the ageist comment quite interesting - what other career goals would be an issue?

Just not seeing much in terms of the "habit of leadership" that HBS seeks ie lots of contribution in and out of work. I would adjust expectations downward. You dont have to go to HBS to get a lot out of b-school.

You should know that HBS and GSB both "like them young," more so than other schools.
I think you should target Sloan as your super reach; they are accepting of older students, and there is a good fit regarding biotech and renewable energy. But they require that you have clear evidence of positive impact so would need to have several stories that speak to impact. Kellogg is also good; Duke has a strong fit with both energy and healthcare.

Based on some feedback on a previous post it sounds like a
profile review would help me in my path forward.
I'm planning on applying R2 or R3 @ H/S/W
Background:
Gender: Male
Nationality: USA+
GMAT: 730 [Q49, V40 - considering retaking as Verbal is my strength]
Age @ Matriculation 33
EducationUndergrad: Engineering 3.1 GPA [3.8 major GPA]
Grad: Engineering MS [3.5 GPA]
Work Experience3 Years Renewable Energy Research
1.5 Years Big Oil & Gas downstream applications/project management
MS Degree
Started a Company - folded ~ 1 year later
Biotech - 1 year as a staff engineer, 1 year as a manager
ExtracurricularI've been involved in community outreach my whole life, led various programs starting in Middle School through UG [VP of area student org]
My EC involvement rapidly declined while working but picked it up again during my MS - starting an innovation/ideation think tank which led to my company, was also involved with charity work as VP of Finance at a school club. Haven't done much in the last 3 years to speak of.
Purpose of MBACurrently leading new product development for a business unit, doing acquisition analysis and getting involved in business development - I recognize that this combination is ideal for me but I'm weak in the BD and M&A side and would like to expand my capabilities outside of the technical to better fulfill those skill requirements. Post MBA would like to get back into biotech and continue on the M&A/BD route.
