mbaMissionKate Thanks a lot for the review, it will really help me with the application. My only concern was for applying in R3.. I don't mind to reapply if needed. Thank you for clarifying the queries.

Hello Kate, mbaMissionKate , I decided to not apply in R3 as I got multiple suggestions that applying in R3 would be very competitive. I will be applying in R1 for Fall 2025.

I wanted to let you know that I also recently got promoted, this was my 2nd promotion along with 1 lateral rotation in the past 6year. After thinking more on what career I want to get into. I have decided to pursue Product Management as I have got good experience in Product design & development (Multiple design patents as well) and project management. I want to learn more about end to end product cycle and bring great products to the market.

Based on these updates, can you share your thoughts on below list of schools. I am planning to apply to 8 schools (Dream- 3 Target -2 Safety-3). I am yet to finalize hence need some recommendations.

Dream
Standford
University of Pennsylvania (Wharton)
Northwestern University (Kellogg)
University of California, Berkeley (Haas)

Target
Columbia University
University of Michigan--Ann Arbor (Ross)
Yale University

Safety
New York University (Stern)
University of Virginia (Darden)
Duke University (Fuqua)

Hi again! Thanks for sharing the updates. Yes, generally your odds will be better in Round 1 when the classes are fully open.

In terms of your school list, I'm happy to weigh in but hope you'll make the final call yourself based on your risk tolerance and preferences :)

I would re-categorize Columbia as a reach/dream. That leaves too many in the top category so you should look to cut from your list there. Of those, your odds should be best at Columbia, Haas, and Kellogg, and I think Haas and Kellogg align a bit better with product management goals (especially Haas for its access to tech companies). Wharton and Stanford will be the hardest, especially Stanford (it's a dream school for many).

Then you could keep the remaining targets- Ross, Yale- and safer options- NYU, Darden, Duke to balance out your list.

Hope that helps!
Kate
