Hi Namita,

I may take GMAT by June/July, and do not have any geographical preferences. I am looking for admission by March 2016.

These are some of the schools, where I would be interested to go. IIMA, IIMB, ISB, NUS, and some of the US BSchools.

Can you suggest the schools which are in stretch zones but are better than these.

Here are some more details about me which I forgot to post previously.

GPA - 3.02 (I calculated it using WES Free service, Should I use it's paid service to get appropriate conversion?)

Also which schools do you think would be applicable to me, if I only opt for EMBA? I am also looking for industry change, and hence I was more inline with a fulltime MBA.

Thanks,
NS

Hi NS,

Suggest that you complete your GMAT by May- June so that you have ample time to write your applications. In case you do not score well on GMAT you will have the time to retake. This can be a common occurrence among the older applicants who have not studied for a long while - I have seen many people's MBA plans crashing down when they take the GMAT test close to the submission date and fail to perform well in it.

The IIMs executive MBA programs should be good for you, but aim higher on the GMAT. more in the range of 700.
One word of caution is that when you get down to writing your career goals- entrepreneurship/ VC/ tech consulting are three different areas - you have to know which one to select based on your skills built so far and interests. VC is typically impossible to get into unless you already have experience in it/ have your own venture - maybe sold it off successfully.

Feel free to share your resume with me (email in the signature below), so that I can give you better guidance.

Hi nsusername,

You have a dynamic profile. Your work experience and academics are decent. As you have more than 8 years of work experience, I would say EMBA programs are best for you. If you are looking for EMBA programs and have no geographical preference then I would suggest you to consider B-Schools like Kellogg, INSEAD, CEIBS, NUS, Duke Fuqua, Chicago Booth and UCLA. And to get admitted in these B-School you should target 700+ GMAT Score. The list of B-Schools you have mentioned above are good, I would suggest you to go for Asian(INSEAD, NUS, CEIBS) and US B-Schools.

Being in Australia, you must have seen that Australia places less value in MBA and values previous experience much. You may also gauge your chances of getting admission to top business school by trying this amazing tool https://bit.ly/1Iu9fP4

Hi Neha,

Thanks for your response.

The dilemma I faced was that I may be an old candidate for normal MBA (31) or may be too young for some of EMBA. Also, if I opt for EMBA, I may have to catch up on some of the knowledge that they expect the candidate to have.

For e.g. I do not have any direct commercial/management experience, because most of my experience is technology focused, but I do have senior level experience.

I agree somewhat with your perception about Australia, and I feel I will only go for 1 year course.

I will try to get good GMAT score, but as of now i think I may get somewhere 650 to 680, and probably within Asia Pacific region, I may target INSEAD(Singapore), NUS, IIMB, IIMA.

Thanks,
NS

Hi nusername,

I think by the time you apply for EMBA this year end or next year your profile (work exp and age) would be a perfect fit for EMBA program.

Having senior level experience with strong application (essays, GMAT Score and extracurricular) is sufficient to get you in for EMBA programs.

If you would like to discuss in detail or would like to have free profile evaluation, feel free to PM your resume.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
