Hi,
I just took my GMAT yesterday and will start doing my application next week.
Below is my profile. Can you please help to see if the range of schools is ok for me. Thanks
GMAT: 720(Q50/V37)
GPA: 3.3 <-- (a bit worried about this)
Major: Computer Science
Undergrad Uni: National University of Singapore
Age/Nationality: 24/Vietnamese
Graduated: 12/2009
Experience: 2 years
Resume:
Work:
- Assistant Director - Professional Services Consultant @ Moody's : 10/2009 - Present
- Associate - Product Engineer @ Moodys: 01/2009 - 10/2009
- Research Internship @ INRIA (French National Institute of Computer Science and Automation): Summer 2008
- Summer Analyst @ Credit Suisse: Summer 2007
Academic:
- Highest score for Final Year Project (A)
- Publish and Present research paper in an international conference
Exra Curriculum Activities:
- Volunteer to Summer Program in Vietnam to help financially disadvantaged families in Country Side
- Volunteer to help out families having post-Vietnam war effects
- Donate to help out families of Vietnam soldiers before in Vietnam war
Schools I'm thinking of applying to are:

You may want to consider a different range of schools.
HBS/Stanford - likely a big stretch; it's not that there's anything wrong with you, but that you're up against other folks who will have stronger or more pedigreed resumes (and even these people are hardly shoe-ins). You're an Asian comp sci major working in finance (nothing out of the ordinary there) - and you're competing against other Asian/Caucasian guys who went to Ivy or equivalent working in IB/PE. Again, go for it if you really want, but consider these two schools as lottery tickets.
Columbia - had you applied Early Decision (deadline passed in early October), you may have had a shot. But with Regular Decision, you're going to be a stretch.
NYU/Cornell - these are the range of schools you should focus on more, where you'll have a more reasonable shot - and where you'll still likely be able to achieve your career goals post-MBA. Maybe add Yale to the mix (if you're looking for a finance career). Other schools in this range include Duke, Darden, Michigan, Haas, and UCLA.

I kind of have to start my MBA study next year (fall intake). I wonder if you can recommend me some "safety" schools.
