Hi Jon. Thanks for the response. Your answer does clarify a lot of things but I still had few more doubts. I would love if you could clarify them as well.

1. Although I do not belong to an IIT, yet BITS Pilani consistently ranks among the top 10 engineering universities in India with many alumni at premier positions around the world. In such a case, will I still be at a disadvantaged position as compared to IIT's?

2. Does my double majors degree in Economics and Engineering add value to my application, specially considering the versatility of this degree and the fact that this combination is coming from India, a country where you normally don't find such combinations.

Would love to get clarifications on this. Thanks again.

Hey there,

1. Unfortunately yes. They are SOOOO many Indian candidates that top 10 programs can pick and choose. And the fact is, they often choose from the number 1 school, because they don't need to go any lower.

2. Not in itself, but to the extent that it allows you to build a unique story and show how this double degree will help your goals, then yes.

Best,
Jon

Hi

- Your undergrad performance is decent and the GMAT score is great.
- However, a lot will depend on your career goals and your main Yale essay. As you know, the SS program is competitive, and most people applying have stellar scores and academics, so that is less of a differentiator.
- Reliance and DRDO by themselves wont really differentiate you much. Your current work ex (at a firm like, say, Credit Suisse) could help somewhat. Look more at leadership experiences and highlighting those. For example, Enactus is really relevant. The resume is an important document for the Silver Scholars!
- Ideally, you should apply to R1, but can you make it now? If not, look at R2.
- Plenty of other programs to look at. HBS 2+2, Kellogg Russell Fellows, Ross MiM, LBS MiM, HEC. On the MBA side, YLP/EEO for ISB, IESE YTP.
- You might also find this article and this article relevant.

Hope this helps. Feel free to come back with more queries as needed.
