Hello.
I have a question about schools sending unsolicited information about their MBA programs after taking the GMAT.
Does this mean that the sending schols have pre-screened the information that I provided during the GMAT (including a crummy UGPA of 2.2) to infer that I have a better than average chance to be accepted to their school?
Or, does it simply mean that my GMAT score was in an acceptable range for their candidate profile and that is says nothing about my chances to actually gain acceptance to the school?
I don't really intend to turn this into a profile evaluation (although if someone is willing, I will provide more info), but here is some background:
GMAT score was 660 (Q 40; V 41). AWA 5.5.
I feel that I can do better than this on the quant, but I don't believe I want to go back in and mess around with a 660 unless the quant score will be problematic even in spite of the 660.
UGPA, as mentioned previously, is 2.2. I willfully provided this to GMAC during the test. Lots of reasons for the poor performance, namely, no desire as an undergrad to pursue grad school which led to apathy towards doing all that it takes to get As, personal strife that led to some incomplete grades and a withdrawn semester, and indecision about major (once thought I wanted to be an engineer, for which I found I was not exactly suited).
Since I earned my degree in Dec 2006, I have worked as a Merchandising/Buying Specialist at Lowe's Companies, Inc, a Fortune 50 company. I also have some experience "in the field" as a co-manager of an 84 Lumber. Again, since the focus of my question is not exactly a request for a full profile evaluation, I'll spare the details of my work experience.
I have received some unsolicited information from some b-schools that, frankly, are of a bit higher caliber than I had ever given consideration to applying. The last one was Boston College, whose candidate profile looks a little intimidating compared to my own (avg GMAT of 660, avg GPA of 3.4).
Still, I'm worried that I may be being too hard on myself over the poor undergrad GPA. I don't want to shortchange myself, particularly if this unsolicited information indicates that I could actually get into one of these schools.
Any advice or inside info about these solicitations?
Thanks!
