Hi Linda-
What happens in the event that an applicant is terminated from his/her job prior to enrolling in bschool?
My situation is nearly at a boiling point with my bosses (whom I havent told about applying to school). I think they've figured it out and believe they are making moves to terminate me as a result and bring in a new employee more committed to the long-term ("insiders" have pretty much informed me they are actively looking and prepared to pull the trigger).
I'd imagine this will happen over the next 1-2 months. They have/will have a very bitter taste in their mouth too, so I'm wondering if this will have any impact on the MBA verification/background check/reference check process IF I am admitted (this essentially applies to all schools).
BTW - I have already applied to all schools and am expecting to hear in the next 2-3 weeks (hope I get into at one!!!!)

People can and do get laid off after applying to b-school. That doesn't imply that they lied on their application. When they applied, they were employed; sometime thereafter, they were laid off. They were honest and there is no problem. As long as you don't lie about your employment situation, you won't have a problem with the background check.
