Hi Veritas,
I wanted to ask about what it takes for someone with a few traditionally solid boxes (specifically high GMAT, top consulting) checked to get into top business schools. Here's my profile to give you a clearer idea; would you be able to give me a few of your thoughts on what to focus on in the next years?
-Graduated from top 20 undergrad in the midwest
-770 GMAT
-BA in Political Science
-MS in Computer Science
-3.75 cumulative GPA across both (was a 4-year program)
-Interned at top private technology company
-Will be starting at an MBB
-No significant extracurriculars (! zero!)
I am definitely looking at a tech focus for my future career but have not yet decided what exactly that looks like. Applying jointly to a MPA/MPP or JD is very much on the table (still infusing a tech focus with those) but I haven't felt too drawn to the idea.
What's important for me to focus on as I start work and begin to think about business school? Thanks!

Clearly your weakness right now is your lack of involvement outside of work. Ideally, you would engage in something that you have historically also shown an interest in, which would help indicate passion for something. A leadership position in your community would be good, but just running out and volunteering for something so you can put it on your resume will not help. Also, schools will want to hear a clearly defined vision for your career post MBA, which it sounds like you are still working on. Let us know if we can help you develop your story. Your GMAT and experience will be a big asset if you round yourself out.
