Linda, Paul,
I have been following business school websites but haven't quite come across any ranking or at least some ratings for schools good in operations. Most of the websites focus on finance/marketing/consulting.. except usnews, I cannot find any website that gives details on schools for operations management. I think I have posted many times so I won't pester you with my profile here... but from my research, I would list the following as schools haing very good operations focus:
MIT, Ross, Carnegie Mellon, Purdue... are there any more schools that could be added here?
One question on Purdue: From what I have seen, people tend to keep this as a "safety" school... moreover, it does not have the best placements... your comment on purdue and whether one should apply there?
Thanks for your help!
Dogbert,
The Wall Street Journal's recruiter-based ranking includes an Operations Management category. The four schools you listed ranked 1, 4, 2, and 3 (respectively) in their ranking. Other schools in their top 10 for O.M. are Michigan State, Ohio State, HBS, Penn State, Stanford, and Tuck.
For some applicants, Purdue would be a safety school, but I think they would be a minority. It's not for everybody, but it's an excellent program that WSJ ranked Number 1 among Regional Schools last year.
