Looking to do a fulltime MBA. Could you tell me which schools I am competitive at.
About me: Female, Indian, 27yrs
GMAT Score: 760 (Q:50, V:44, AWA:6)
Educational background: Aerospace Engineering (IIT) CG:6.7/10 and MBA (IIM) CG:2.7/4.3. CGPA is rather average but both are very competitive programs. I also have good reason to do another MBA.
Work experience: 4 years with top US Consumer Bank (was a largest till a while back). Good career progression while I was there. Worked in a range of geographies including Asia, Europe, US, UK, Mexico etc. I have mentored interns and new hires and lead small teams (2-3 ppl) in the financial analysis group and large teams (40+) in a retail sales environment.
One drawback is that I am on a maternity break currently. Right now, I am working as a part time consultant for a microfinance organization.
I have also provided some pro-bono consultancy to a tech startup in India which really helped them.
Tried a number of ventures in the past four years including a textile sales venture with local weavers, a real-estate valuation agency and a seafood export unit. None of them were really successful and were wound up eventually. My bank job remained the bulwark throughout.
Extracurriculars: Good extracurriculars during school and college. I was class representative and cultural secretary at college. Founded a magazine for our department. I haven’t been too strong on extracurriculars after joining work. Atleast, I don’t have any official positions.
Given my profile, which schools would be realistic for me. Again, does is make sense for me to wait a year, get into a full-time job and then apply? I am not in a hurry and would prefer to give myself a decent shot when I do apply.
Thanks
