I'd like some advice on which schools to app to please.
Here is my profile -
Indian, 27 Yrs, Male
GMAT
710 (Q48, V39)
Experience
- 4 years developing software development for the world's leading automotive OEM supplier
- 6 months of international exposure. Good feedback from the client
- Exposure to Client handling
- Youngest member in the team, but sharing equal responsibilities with peers of Exp level 6-8 Yrs
- Changed the customer perception of the team quality by proactive suggestions and thereby helping in acquiring the project
- Active contributor to various technology forums in automotive domain
- At ease with different cultures, working with a multi site team
Education
- BE - VTU Karnataka - 72.9% (aggregate) - Electronics
- HSC - 88.00%
- SSC - 82.00% - Topped the school
Extra Curricular
- Involved with an NGO for Kids education
- Many technical papers presented at college
- Student representative at college hostel
- School Captain
- Volunteer at National Institute for Entrepreneurship

Hello,
Yes, you do come from a very common background, but that's out of your control... Best to focus on the things you can impact at this point, such as have great letters of recommendation, very clear and believable reasons for wanting to attend each school, realistic career goals, and essays that successfully demonstrate the four dimensions that admissions officers look for (leadership, maturity, innovation,and teamwork).
I think you are targeting a good range of schools, but if you want to work in India or China, ISB or HKUST should also definitely be on your list. The "prestige" of a U.S. or European school name helps, but not as much as having great recruiting opportunities at your doorstep (by studying in the market where you eventually want to work).
