I think overall you have a good profile that will make you an attractive candidate to the schools listed. CBS/Tuck will be particularly challenging. But I think you have a fair chance at the other schools, make sure you apply to the consortium for the schools that make sense. I think a greater challenge is post-MBA, most banks are looking for people with 700+ GMATs so keep this in mind as you think through your career goals

Hi, requesting a profile evaluation for R2 applications for a 26 year old Male from Colombia (living in the US)

GMAT 640 Q44 V34 6 AWA 5 IR

GPA 3.3 undergrad / grad degree in Accounting from a top public university in my field.

WE: 48 months at start of program (Aug 2017). I work for a Big 4 company advising on mergers and acquisitions (Transaction Advisory Services Group). Highlighted clients include The Carlyle Group and the Abraaj Group (Dubai). I was hired as a Senior Associate with 1 full year of experience less than the traditional candidate in my role (indirect early promotion). I have had to manage various individuals throughout my time there on a project by project basis (including a few from our Mexico City office - cultural cookie points? If they exist ha). Overall pretty good ratings from Superiors.

Nationality: Underrepresented minority

Extracurriculars: Mentor for a community of start ups / incubators in my city. I volunteer finance and accounting services for these start ups through an organization in charge of matching able and willing professionals to start-ups. Also volunteer as a speaker, motivator, and mentor for under represented community high schools on the importance of attending college. I'm the social chair for the TAS group in my office so I coordinate all kinds of events. Lastly, not on my apps anywhere at the moment but I did attempt / am attempting to launch a couple products that I created with a business partner (more to add to the entrepreneurial bucket).

Others: Active CPA, bilingual (English and Spanish)

Target Schools: Columbia, Tuck, Yale, Darden, Cornell, NYU**, Ross

Post MBA goals: Investment banking short term with a longer term goal of private equity.

**on a plane right to NYC for a project but also to check out Stern and figure out something creative to write for their short essay on fit. ;)

Thanks in advance.

Interesting profile indeed, I would say none of the schools are out of the question for you although they will all be quite a challenge. Do you have any safety schools at all or is the list you posted it?

Also: A higher GMAT score would surely help, so have you considered re-taking?

Another thing to consider would be to find out as much as possible about the other schools mentioned as well, as you will need to convince them of fit too. I understand if you cannot visit them all but try to do what you can.

And of course: the essays will be what makes or breaks it all. So they should be your top priority as they will matter more than anything else. It sounds like you have a lot of material to work with though, so do all you can in order to present it all in the best possible way too.

Good luck!

We'd say, if possible, give the GMAT another shot. You have a good profile. A good GMAT will boost it further and push your case to schools such as Duke or Ross.
