Firstly, you should realize that nothing in MBA applications plays "no role". Every item that adcom sees influences their decision to some extent.
Regarding the salary information, the way I understand it, it plays two parts, firstly it allows the schools to compile statistics on salary increases between pre and post MBA jobs but mostly, it allows them to track the value you have in your enterprise and quantifies the evolution of your career.
If, after three years of working in a firm that has a typical promotion structure, your salary hasn't increased by much, it is a red flag indicating that you may not be top performer or that something went wrong.
If this your case I'd recommend getting more information on the subject and asking previous applicants if they would advise you to write a note explaining why the salary evolution isn't in line with the things you claim to have achieved at your firm.
