My avatar is a photo of my older dog. He's actually a Lab/German Shepherd mix, though it's easy to mistake him for a Lab, especially in a picture. I have been meaning to change it to a photo that includes both of my dogs. The other is a Golden Retriever.

My dogs are named after characters from Caddyshack, and my screen name is a combination of the two names.

Judge Smails' first name is Elihu. Among the funny lines in the movie was when his wife, in the shower said, "Elihu, will you come loofah my stretch marks?" So, my younger dog is light colored is named after the judge.

My older dog was named after the club valet, memorably named in the line: "Oh Porterhouse, look at the wax build up on these shoes."

I think it's boring to give dogs common names. The rescue organization I got him from named my older dog "scout"; I mean how boring is that? When we go to the dog park, everyone laughs aloud at their names and wants to say hi to them - for dogs I think that's great.

Pelihu - So then Porterhouse and Elihu will be travelling with you if you end up moving for b-school?

Aaudetat - Fair enough. But how do you pronounce it?

Lepium - Interesting, figured it was some sort of chemical or mineral or something.

Dukes? Fluffydot? Explain yourselves.

Additionally (and I know I'm risking "who cares?" thoughts by stating this), the bike in my avatar is an Aprilia RXV, the first V-twin motocross / enduro competition bike. I'm into bikes and I'm particularly fond of Aprilia since I owned an '89 one which I used to travel in West Africa back in 2005 (and she never let me down).

Cheers. L.

PS: ok, I could really, really, really, really use an admit right now. I'm losing it.

To make a long story short, it's related to the National Rugby team in my home country.

It will depend on where i go to school. Berkeley or Stanford, we're already here. I could take them with me to UCLA or Michigan because I have enough friends in both locations. My real concern is what to do if I need to fly out of town, which I think might happen often, especially during the first year. I don't want to kennel them, so if I don't have friends in the area I can leave them with, I can't take them.

I have been acclimating them to my parents house (who live nearby). They know how to get in and out, where to do their business, where not to go, etc. They are completely housebroken and have no bad habits so they can live with almost anyone.

I'm thinking if I secure a job offer after a summer internship, I might take them with me for a fun second year.

I think the whole Pumas into Tri-Nations is gaining momentum. I read some articles about it recently (although the amateur conservatives here are opposing the move). I think that even when we lose several (if not all) games, we will gradually improve as we are exposed to top level rugby regularly, pretty much as Italy has improved since its inclusion into the 6 - nations.

France...hmmm...I hope not. That would mean I've been dinged...
I do hope to join a rugby club at B-school, though.

we'd say who cares if it was boring, but it's quiet interesting. Please tell us what you were doing in West Africa? motoX? Is it like Paris-Dakar type of thing? Any pictures?

What I did is usually called "Adventure Motorcycling" or some other labels. I basically went on holidays on my bike. I crossed 4 countries, rode about 1,000 miles and then came back home, 15 days later and with lots of stories to tell. Most of the riding was on tarmac, although I did venture into some sand for fun (but I did so without luggage and reducing tire air pressure). I have no pictures. Unluckily, my photo camera had broken not long before the trip, I was quite cash constrained and I preferred at the time to take the cash along for contingencies rather than spend it on a new camera. There are basically no ATMs in the region, so I had to rely on whatever cash I had with me. I did take my video camera instead, but ended filming only about 10 minutes throughout the whole trip.

I did some MotoX in the UK, at the KTM training centre in Devon, but that was way before the trip and I did so as training.

Additionally, while it may sound interesting, the trip was nothing compared to the dozens (maybe hundreds?) of London - Cape Town or Alaska - Ushuaia trips being done by bike every year. In case you are interested, go check this forum:

https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/

You'll be surprised by posts such as: "Is Congo still at war right now? How's the border crossing?".

Cheers. L.

Tell me you wrote about this in your essays. Please tell me you wrote about this. Taking an Aprilia (awesome!) through West Africa is nutbag awesome. I picture you as the guy in Sahara now. My hum drum white male lifestyle is so boring compared to what some of you guys have done.
