Sending transcripts with applications

Hi,
I am an applicant who did his graduation in India in 1996. My problem is that although I have all the original transcripts and the degree with me, I am wonderful how I could send my original transcripts with my applications (since I have only one copy).

I am not sure I can get more original sopies of my transcripts from my university and the business schools specifically state that they would not accept photo-copies. Also since I am in Singapore, I am not sure if I can find some notary to certify the photo copies based on the originals.

Would appreciate any advice in this regard.

Hi,

This problem is actually quite common. I would contact the school, inform them of how difficult it is to obtain the transcripts (especially since you are far away from the school), and ask them how you can resolve the problem. Sometimes schools will allow you to send a photocopy and then ask that you produce the documents in person if/when you are accepted.

Contact the schools individually and ask them how you should handle the situation.

Thanks a lot for all your advice.. I think I will do just that.. write to each individual school and ask them... also, like you said, I will probably suggest that I send the photocopies and show them the originals once admitted...

That sounds like a good plan. Like I said before, this is a very common issue - if one has ever worked in admissions with intl. candidates she has probably encountered this several times. Indeed, this is almost a "good" problem compared to some- in one case the student's academic records had been destroyed in a fire, in another the student's original records had been lost in "political upheaval."
