Thanks a lot for all your advice.. I think I will do just that.. write to each individual school and ask them... also, like you said, I will probably suggest that I send the photocopies and show them the originals once admitted...

That sounds like a good plan. Like I said before, this is a very common issue - if one has ever worked in admissions with intl. candidates she has probably encountered this several times. Indeed, this is almost a "good" problem compared to some- in one case the student's academic records had been destroyed in a fire, in another the student's original records had been lost in "political upheaval."
