I want to pivot into consulting post-MBA, so I am looking for a full-time MBA. Yes, I have few additional schools in my list. My top choice is these three schools. Any tip to improve my candidacy further ? How much impact will a higher GMAT score have ?
The GMAT is technically in range for the average of each of these schools, I would focus on creating essays that illustrate that you’ve done your homework - its not about flattering the committee, its about showing them why this is the right place for you - what students did you speak with, which classes are going to help fill your knowledge gap, what clubs/activities/events do you want to participate in? I’d focus on the application and if you have additional time, take the GMAT again before January and if higher, you can submit - it will help with scholarships.

Hi. I am an Indian female with eight years of experience in Audit. I did undergrad at Delhi University and cleared the second level of CA. Extracurricular: I was a member of the commerce society in college and actively participated in CA Fests, and I have taken up volunteering activities to educate underprivileged kids. I haven’t taken the GMAT yet. I wish to take up asset management post the MBA. Do I have a chance if I apply in round 2 to the top US B-schools? What should be my target GMAT score? Thanks

Make sure your 25 Things is a good balance of personal, professional and academic, usually 1/3 each.. and focus a bit more on more current accomplishments versus continuously referencing pre-college

Hi - sounds like you’ve accomplished a lot! Do you plan to clear Level 3 - if so, mention this as CA is one of the hardest exams and contributes to your academic readiness. 700+ GMAT will be helpful in applying to top 25 programs (especially as an Indian candidate). EC’s are great, management is somewhat generic - maybe say management within finance (or specific field where you can leverage your strong background).

Thanks. I’ll mention the specific field in my essay. Also, will it reduce my chance of getting a scholarship if I apply in the second round since Indians are overrepresented in B-schools? A lot of people say that it’s better to apply in the first round, especially if you need financial assistance.

Great work experience, but really need to explain why you need a 2nd MBA. Doyou have any Batch mates from IMT that got went to/are in any of the schools on your list? This will be very helpful for determining which programs are most accepting. Also, some programs don’t allow a 2nd MBA, so check out this list https://aringo.com/can-you-apply-for-a-second-mba/

Most programs have a scholarship deadline for Round 2/January deadlines - as they will allot similar amounts between both rounds and it is inevitable that some admits with scholarships will decline their offer and it will go back into the scholarship fund for R2. I think you will be fine applying in R2/January.

Wow impressive experience! M7 typically has an average age closer to 27-28.,. so by the time you matriculate, you’ll be 32. They do have exceptions, which you can very well be, but you need to show them why their specific program is right for you and your next steps. Yale SOM may be a great fit - IVY, but not M7. You can also consider the Stanford MSx program for more experienced candidates.
