Hi ppp1711, You have a great profile, your chances are strong with Top 30 and even Top 20. What is your post-MBA goal? This will help narrow the list down a bit.

A questions we have recieved online - Is there a significant drawback for a 31 year old Indian Male lawyer to apply for R1 next year (Fall 2024 intake) as opposed to an R2 this year (Fall 2023 intake)

31 is a bit over the age for top full-time 2 year programs (especially M7). I would recommend considering more senior programs like Stanford MSx, USC IBEAR, Foster GEMBA or a 1year program that are full-time but tailored to more experienced candidates - in this case R2 this year or R1 next year will be an equal chance.

Typically how many applicants do schools interview? And for schools that interview selectively, is the interview more a red flag check? Or does it have more weight?

Sorry for the typo. An Army officer, 10 years experience in man management, logistics and Supply chain management. Excellent academics record during service courses, an engineer and was part of college volleyball team and played games during service, working with a NGO as a mentor for underprivileged kids. Can you throw some light on my options and profile if I score above 730 in GMAT also if I have done courses with officers of different countries and was sponsor officer(personally responsible) for a foreign officer, can it be counted as an international exposure.

This will vary by school and also by how large the applicant pool is. If you get an interview, it means that you check all the boxes and on paper you seem like a good fit for the program. The interview allows them to get to know you better and see if you are a personality/culture fit and also as a check & balance to make sure what you say matches your application. I would say roughly 15-30% of interviews get admitted. I think there are some articles on P&Q or BusinessBecause that will provide school-specific stats for last year... Not sure if the GMAT Club tracker from last year would provide the stats - Nikhil, do you know?

Yes. We can definitely get a few insights from the decision tracker.

decision-tracker.html?fl=menu

There are a lot of filters that we can use to get the data but if there is a specific school that we are looking for, then I can get some insights on that.

Wow, lots of great experience and yes, international experience! 10 years of experience tends to lean toward 1-year and/or senior programs - INSEAD, EU/UK schools, MSx at Stanford, USC IBEAR, Foster GEMBA, Ross Global MBA, or Kellogg or Emory 1 year MBA programs. What are you looking to do post-MBA - that will help narrow down your choices.

Thanks Nikhil, !

Another one we have recieved online - I am an Indian woman applicant with a GMAT score of 700 and GPA 8.33/10. I completed my engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology in 2018. Since then I have worked for 5 months as a software trainee, then as a political Consultant for a leading political party for 3 years and currently working as an Assistant Manager with Invest India since December 2021. Want to apply to US Bschools for fall 2023. Request my profile evaluation and some Bschools shortlist.

Hi, I am Indian Male Indian Engineer with 5 years of work ex in the semi conductor industry. I have worked in Industry leaders - Qualcomm, and now work in Synopsys - which is again an industry leader in EDA. I have a 730 GMAT and have led clubs/teams in college. I also have worked with various NGOs over the last few years. My GPA is 8.12/10. Is Duke, Darden, and Stern tough to get in with my profile ?

I have had 2 promotions in Qualcomm and a big hike (35%) when I moved to Synopsys.

Fantastic profile with exciting experience. You can consider Top 15-25 programs in the US. That is a sweet spot of reach, target and safety. post-MBA employment/specialization will help with short listing specific schools.

Duke and Darden require highly tailored applications, illustrating why they are specifically your #1, NYU can be a good choice - Any interest in their Tech MBA? May want to add a few more schools to pad your list - Tepper or Cornell could be great options
