Critics are severe and increasingly numerous (= their number is increasing). Hence C.

C it is.

1. Critics are severe and incresingly numerous
2. 'deficiencies... that seem to deny'

I vote for C as well, although I don't like that fact that 'that' could relate to deficiencies or critics(one can make a case for it).

Hey guys.....I am taking an initiative of expalning all of my answers correct me if I am wrong or If I should change my explanation statergy.

A and B can be eliminated they change the meaning of what is meant to be conveyed. Same as in the Case of D and E change the meaning of the sentence.
so by POE C slould be the answer

hi boksana,

''that '' can relate only to ''deficiencies'' and not to '' critics''
why - cos ''critics'' here is a noun which can be described as ''they'' as pronoun ... it is humans we are talking about and we use they for ''beings''

as for deficiencies = entities or THNGS and they are like almost OBJECTZ and hence the use ''that'' suits only too well...

hope that helps...
Have fun

vkranthi7,

Dont worry ,your strategy is good. Now here's my question.

How does D and E change the meaning ? I could understand how A and B change it but not D and E.
