Yes, say something, and say it now. Do not wait a day. Also, cancel your score if you haven't already.

Thank you for the reply. I have sent them the mail describing this incident, But my major concern is whether they listen? or if it is just a waste of time. And apart from sending the mail is there anything I should do? Also, I didn't accept the score in the first place.
You could see whether and how they respond and try calling them if necessary.

In my experience, test providers can be pretty reasonable in responding to issues like this one.

Hi. Sorry to hear about your experience and not optimal score. What specifically are you referring to as negligence on behalf of the test center?

Hello all, I need your help.
I took the GMAT yesterday (ie. 27 August 2022) at center in India.
There was some event/fest going on in the college(center) whose ground was adjacent to my exam room. Though I gave my Quants with total concentration and scored Q47, during my verbal consistent noise of drums started and that is the reason I couldn't concentrate and scored V13. I even raised my hand for help but there was no one to help me. Then after 5 mins, I was provided with ear plugs but they were ineffective in blocking the noise. Due to the time pressure, I was not in a position to argue or complain about it and was holding my ears for the whole verbal section. Retaking the exam because of the center's negligence is something I cannot afford to do. I had attempted GMAT before at Mumbai center and the environment standards were up to the mark compared to Surat. I was prepared this time and wanted to give my best but because of the circumstances, I couldn't. So what should I do? Should I file a complaint and also if I file a complaint will they listen?

Sorry to hear this.I get the complete picture and what you have gone through. You can actually put all this down and explaining or giving them proof about the musical event going around. You can also suggest to change the center to another location because this can happen to someone else next year during festival times

Good luck

Who do you suggest pays for this relocation so that once a year a festival does not disrupt a test taker? Maybe the Indian government or the university next door because it’s an Indian government festival that’s conducted at the University nearby?

It seems to me the complaint for the test taking she should go to the source of the noise.

My favorite part, is how you suggesting they prove the noise? 😬

My opinion would be that you can try to complain but this event is outside of Test centers control.

Another consideration is that the OP continued to take the test. Imagine you went to a restaurant and they served you a terrible meal. You have two choices. One you can refuse it and not pay for it. Your second choice is to eat it. You can’t expect to get a refund if you eat the whole meal and then asked for a refund at the end. It seems you would have a stronger case if you had filed a complaint and stopped your test in the middle.

I understand your situation and I’m not sure I would’ve personally stopped the test. Sometimes you just bite the bullet and go with it since it’s not just a meal at a restaurant but it’s also not a test centers fault that some really loud people decided to make really loud noises unless of course those were test center employees 😂

You can always raise the issue and try to plead your case. Who knows, maybe you’ll get a free retake 🤷‍♂️

Good luck!

If you ask for a refund/free rescheduling, mention things that are indisputable. For example, if they gave earplugs to you during the first quarter of Verbal, it should appear on the recording for someone to check.

Hi... i feel so sorry for you. I'm sure there would be other test takers too with you who had similar experience. If I may ask which center was this. I have scheduled my test too at a test center which is located in the university. This incident has actually made me worried for it is festival time in India.

I think I know which test centrw are you talking about. Iappeared for another exam in same centre last year and faced the exact same thing. And that happened in Jan, when it's not even a festival season in India.

This particular test centre is a bad choice and may be raising enough number of complaints against the centre may lead Pearson Vue to consider changing the centre permanently.

I am so sorry this happened to you.
