Questions:
1.Should i retake GMAT because of bad AWA?
I am planning to give IELTS and score good (>=8) to compensate for bad AWA.
I am targeting Melbourne Business School big time.
2.What other US B schools i should aim for at this gmat score(if i want to go without retaking gmat-this was my first GMAT attempt)?
were you doing consistently better at verbal during your practice exam? A score of 3 on AWA, in conjunction with a V34, really puts that red flag up there. However, keep in mind that a big part of your MBA application is in essay writing, you can most definitely ensure and convince the AdComs of your writing ability by blowing them away with your essays. If you don't think you'll be able to do super well on the essay, and you've been scoring higher in verbal on practice exams, I'd do a retake.
If you plan to do a retake, make sure you review ChineseBurned's essay analysis in the verbal section of this club. The outline is fairly generic, but because of all the buzzwords that you use, it makes readers feel like you can really write. Of course, you'd still have to develop your own reasonings in the argument and the issue essay, but it'll definitely help. I got a 6 both times on AWA (wrote GMAT twice) and it's really all thanks to ChineseBurned.
Hope this helps!
