Yeah agreed, but I'm not from IT background. I'm into product sales and marketing.

If I give GMAT again that'll be the 4th time. Will the college grade my application on the basis of the number of attempts ?

I'm sorry my bad. See with 640, your profile will be good to go as far as "just" GMAT is concerned for Boston, Simon, UIUC and Jones. For other schools, subjective factors will make a difference. Of course, the trend of GMAT will be questioned, but if you have a genuine reason, make sure to highlight it in the optional essay.

So depending on the clarity of goals and quality of experience and the way you highlight it in your essays, you may improve your chances to one of these schools.

I agree with our friend above. Falling trends look shabby my man. What you gotta do is take it one more time, but you gotta be 100% sure that you are gonna kick that test to the MOON! I mean, like get a 690 or up. Spend a year studying. It's worth it!

Hi,

I'm an Indian Male 25yrs and not from IT background.

These are my GMAT results

1st attempt - 640 (q48 v29) - Aug 2010
2nd attempt - 570 (q45 v24) - Oct 2010
3rd attempt - 580 (q46 v25) - Aug 2011

Due to my work, I was out of the city traveling and couldn't spend much time preparing for GMAT. Hence the low scores.
Should I retake GMAT. Will the admissions board judge me on the number of attempts and the declining scores. Is it advisable taking GMAT ?

I'm trying for the following schools

Indiana University: Kelley
Boston University School of Management
University of Southern California: Marshall
University of Rochester: Simon
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Rice University: Jones
Carnegie Mellon: Tepper

I have 3yrs of we.

Kindly Advise.

Hi,
Definitely recommend retaking the GMAT but only when you feel you are adequately prepared to boost your scores significantly. Some schools look at the average scores across attempts while others take the top score only. You might want to think through that as you finalize your list of schools.

We would recommend utilizing the next few months on applying to schools and strengthening essays rather than retaking GMAT.

Except CMU Tepper, almost all other schools in your list can be cracked if you focus on your essays ( use your sales & marketing experience to differentiate yourself and compensate the low GMAT).

Your recos will play an important role. Take one from any B2B customer of yours if you can or from a vendor.

Hope this helps.
