Guys,
from what you read/learned, how big/likely are Sloan's scholarships? As per my info, that is one toughest schools in that respect.

I talked to a current student, and apparently there are no scholarships whatsoever, even for the most brilliant. MIT offers a part-time job as an Assistant Teacher, which pays around 18000$/year, that's all. Also, MIT has a guaranteed loan for eveyone who is admitted.

Thanks, that is virtually the same that I heard and that unfortunately puts MIT to the back of my wishlist (:

Guys,
from what you read/learned, how big/likely are Sloan's scholarships? As per my info, that is one toughest schools in that respect.

Scholarships are exceptionally few and far between. As has been mentioned in the thread already, Sloan offers generously-compensated TA positions which can get you between 30% - 70% of the relevant semester's tuition paid, however most (not all) of these positions are only available in the second year. I've heard stories of guys getting up to 95% paid but this is really exceptional (and you'd have no life).

My own personal view on this is that this system is arguably "fairer" than a pure scholarship system, as those who have genuine need for the funds will make the effort to earn a TA position, whereas those who don't really need the money won't bother.

In addition, Sloan does offer guaranteed loans covering both tuition and living costs to both domestic and international students (even without cosigner) via the MIT Federal Credit Union. Loan rates are very competitive (US Prime +2.00% to US Prime +2.75%), and there are lots of good features, such as no draw fees, and the ability to make unlimited additional repayments (e.g. if you get a signing bonus post-MBA) without additional charges.

Finally, when considering MBA financing, also consider money that you might earn from internships (though obviously this appplies to every B School).

In for R1. I will be visiting on Oct 16, 2011.

The lack of scholarships is a bit disheartening.. but I'll deal with that if the time comes.

I'm a Sloan 2012.

Scholarships do exist, but are close to impossible to get.

I visited today as part of the ambassador program. Definitely recommended, you get the admissions presentation, then talk to 1st and 2nd year students informally, sit in a class, then a tour of Sloan buildings.

For the student talks, they were informal and over lunch. I think the ratio of students to prospective students was like 3-6 at my table.

reapplyN2011
Re-app in for round one
reapp too for round one.
Hi, reapplyN2011, from the website of sloan's admission, it is said that the reapply shall prepare the entire whole package, including the resume, essay and recoomendation letter. Do this mean that we shall also prepare for the CV and others information?

Wish us good luck for the reapplication.....

Also is anyone going to the Palo Alto or San Francisco event tonight?

Is it safe to assume that everyone will be in business attire for the "Sloan On the road" event?

Also, is anyone going to the Toronto event on Oct 12th?

Anyone know if there is any stipulated format (font size, spacing etc) for the Sloan 2012 essays? Wonder if anyone picked up anything through info sessions etc...

Thanks!
