I'm probably somewhat late to the party here, but question -- do they make all their admit calls on Feb 6, or are they going to start calling this week?

The decisions will go out throughout the week, starting with Monday (tomorrow).

That sounds different from the experiences of last year's class. Where did you hear that the decisions were coming out throughout the week?

Curious about the source as well, since this is so different to prior years' practice and what they mentioned on website:"For this reason, please understand that you will not hear from us about our decision before the deadlines listed here."

It's nice to wait one week less, but it will also be a torture if not get the email in the first few days...

I am sorry for the confusion, I had to add "I think the decisions will go out (...)". That is just my impression.

Last year - not only did they wait until the last day, they waited until 7pm EST... So don't torture yourselves during the upcoming week.

Best of luck,
Sloanie 13'

Hey Sloanie, is it necessary to create an account to check the decision or is the decision posted in the applicant's account? Does the application status change? Thanks!

Given that the decision date is only a week away. Could I say that those without interview invitation is practically out of the game? Why don't they just answer straight away with the denial? A bit funny of how it is handled.

Decision date for "whether to call for interview or rejected without interview " is next week, not the final admit decision for those who have interviewed. That is my understanding.

Deadline is for both. Not sure what happens if you get an interview on the 6th... maybe you get a deferral to R2?

As I understood it, during last years round 1 admissions cycle the applicants who were for sure not going to receive interviews were rejected before the end of December. I believe the forum for the prior year admissions cycle shows many candidates received definitive "Dings" - to use the colloquial term - in the last week or two of December. Although Sloan's website indicated that some candidates who would not be granted an interview would receive their decision early in the current round one admissions cycle, this does not appear to have happened yet and the February 6th deadline is almost upon us.

This unfamiliar departure from historical convention has left me, if not the applicant pool as a whole, pondering what caused the change. Did an unprecedented number of candidates in the accepted column politely withdraw their applications after hearing from other top schools in December? Is the AdComm just setting the precedent that no two years will be similar? Since Sloan is my top choice I hope the former is true and Sloan has plenty of room in their upcoming class; however, the evidence available on the internet does not indicate a significant number of last minute interview requests have gone out. The last glimmer of hope is that Sloan has always said they issue interview requests up until the decision day, with the caveat that if invited to interview in the closing days of the round you would actually get your decision after the official decision day - Feb 6th.

There seems to be a lot of confusion around what MIT is doing so i thought i would write this note, felt good to focus my mind on something. Any thoughts on factual additions or subtractions would be appreciated.

Nice post 617Enigma! The invitation rate on the first page indicates 16% invited (and I think there are some not updating their profile). Together with low rate of interview invitation of Sloan, I would think, the tide is pretty much against those are awaiting like me. Anyway, will soon find out the final answer soon.

Just curious, has anyone called in and asked the AdCom regarding this 'weirdo' handling this year? How is the response?

My application status is still "submitted", nothing like "complete" or "under review." Does Sloan change application status like other schools? Is this something I need to follow up on with the adcom or should I just sit tight and expect them to contact me if the application is incomplete in any way?

Called MIT Sloan office and asked what is going to happen to suckers like me still holding out hope for an R1 interview.
Guy there said that they are still processing applications and there is a chance we might still hear back over the next few
days. (Yeah right! and if my aunt grew a beard, she could become my uncle)
After beating around the bush for a while, he basically said that for guys who do not get an interview call would either be
dinged or wait-listed on decision day.
Analysis of last year's wait list indicates that the odds of getting out of MIT's wait list is very slim. So boys and girls,
Romano shall ride off into the sunset with the school that loves him and not the school that he loves.
Ah! The pangs of unrequited love.

I got mine on 12/20 as well. I'm in DC. I know of some others in California who received it even later than that! It SEEMS like they send our invites loosely based on regions, but it's not 100% - I think some other DC-ers posted an interview invite even later than me.
