might be a silly question but should I wear a tie for my interview? I've heard people argue both sides, just wondering what people here think. Thanks!

Where is the interview? Judge the situation.
I had mine at a coffee shop on a Saturday so tie not really appropriate. Especially since the interviewer was in shorts and a t shirt.

If it's in an office location, a tie is cool. If not, just chill it out. Shirt, nice pants and jacket/blazer will suffice.

Good luck :)

I interviewed last Friday, phone interview with Adcom. Lasted less than 45 minutes and we had some issues with the call quality towards the end :(.

I guess I won't be able to sleep well till the decision date!

So what's the deal with phone calls? If you don't receive one on Tuesday, does that mean you probably didn't get admitted?

So they call people who get admitted the day before decision day? I thought the decisions were going to be purely put on the online application portal

Here's everything we figured out during Round 2 (I'm wait listed from R2 so I went through this about 6 weeks ago).

Derrick makes personal phone calls to everyone who gets admitted. This happens the day BEFORE the notification deadline. In our case, for R3, that means calls go out tomorrow (Tues May 6). They start in Asia and Europe, then move around the globe based on day time / time zones. I'm in Pacific Time. For R2 notifications, the West Coast folks started to get calls mid-afternoon and evening on Pacific time. If you don't get a call, that's bad news. You find out on the online portal the next day (ie the designated notification day) if you are declined or wait listed. Apparently, on phone call day, if you log in and the names of your recommendation writers are GONE, that is a good sign. We think that means you get a call from Derrick and are admitted.

Good luck to everyone waiting for r3 notifications. I was super distracted at work all day last time, so I'm hoping I can refrain from sitting on this message board pressing refresh and checking my phone...!

Congrats HappyBuddha!! U're based in the US? That's an early result...

Does anyone know what time PST does DB start making the calls, and when does he finish?

Unfortunately not... I think that the number of calls he needs to make on R3 decision date might be limited. I'm a bit surprised that he people on the West Coast (like Happybuddha) were called the day before.

WL R2 applicant, based in Europe, nervously waiting...

Spoke to a slightly groggy by charming Derek Bolton earlier today. Called about 0315 PDT. Thrilled to be accepted. Congrats to happybuddha and others who received good news and hang in there everyone waiting.
