Starting to Prepare for GMAT need 750 score

Hope you guys are fine. I am starting to prepare for my GMAT exam, I am giving myself 6 months time to get the mark 750 score. May I have any tips before starting?

A 750 is a pretty tough score. The "easiest" path to get there is improving your quant to at least Q50 and your verbal to V42. Obviously there are different splits available but Q51 can be 50/50 at the top while verbal requires even more precision.

If you are starting around 600 or so, then 6 months should be plenty of time.

Many GMATers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so the fact that you've given yourself that additional study time is great! As an aside, the 750+ score is approximately the 98th percentile - meaning that most GMATers never score that high on the Official Exam. Thankfully, NO Business School actually requires that you score that high - so it's important to realize that the score that you "want" and the score that you "need" to get into your first-choice School are not the same thing.

Since it sounds like you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can access 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have that Score, you should report back here (or you can feel free to PM me directly) and we can come up with a study plan.

1) How many hours do you think you will be able to consistently study each week?
2) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Have you taken a mock test yet? In case you haven't, I would recommend that you take the free mock test on mba.com and check your current level. Why is this important? Suppose you take the mock and score a 750. Then, you would not need 6 months to prepare. You could just book a slot for the coming weekend. On the other hand, you might score less than 750. In that case, based on your score, then you might need 6 months to a year's time to prepare. The preparation time also depends on how many hours you can devote to GMAT preparation every day. Also, whenever you have time, try to read the debriefs of other people who have achieved a 750 score. Who knows, you might find a tip that resonated with you. Since GMAT preparation can be a lonely journey, reading the debriefs should also motivate you to persist with your own preparation. All the best with your preparation!
